Orchid Kokedama Care

Koke and Twine Orchid Kokedamas are easy to care for however, they still require some love and attention. Follow the steps below to ensure your kokedama lives a happy and long life.

Care of indoor orchid plants is easy once you learn how to grow them properly. These interesting flowers can be found in a range of colours and sizes depending on the variety. They make excellent accent plantings to nearly any home décor. Orchids require little care once all their basic needs are met such as light, temperature, and humidity.

Water

Orchids need ample water but should be allowed to dry out some between waterings.

  • Pick up the kokedama and feel the weight and texture.
  • If it is light and completely dry place in a bowl of clean water for 5-10 minutes. When you take it out you may need to allow the excess water to drain before putting back into position.
  • If it is heavy and damp – it should be fine to leave for a one-two weeks.
  • If it is in-between these – leave it and check in another week.

Care

Temperature is also important for indoor orchid care. While orchids tolerate cooler or warmer temperatures throughout their normal growing season, they need to be cooler at night than during the day in order to bloom sufficiently. If down the track your kokedama orchid suddenly stop blooming but have suitable light, temperature, and humidity, then re-wrapping may be necessary.
